One dead in plane crash on I-684 near Westchester County Airport: State police
(BD TOP NEWS BLOG)_ The New York State Police say one passenger has died in a plane crash near Exit 2 on Interstate 684 in Harrison, New York.
State police responded to the crash, which happened on the highway near Exit 2, at approximately 7 p.m. Thursday after getting reports of a small aircraftgoing down.
"Preliminary investigations indicate there were two people on board the plane and one fatality has been confirmed," police said Thursday evening. "Further information will be provided when it becomes available."
As of 8:30 p.m., Interstate 684 is still closed in both directions, with detours causing significant traffic congestion in the Armonk and White Plains areas. It was not clear how much longer the highway would be closed, The Journal News reported.

Reports of a plane crash onto the median of I-684 near Exit 2 in White Plains came in at 6:58 p.m. Exit 2 leads to Westchester County Airport.
Catherine Cioffi, spokesperson for the County of Westchester's Communications Director said no "official" comment could be made but that the county "was not the lead agency" involved.
